5-A-Day
The lovely Princess Leah has tagged me for a meme that asks what 5 things you do to stay mentally healthy. This is certainly a great thing to think about, especially during these darker days of winter and the stress that can come up for many around the holidays.
Here are my top five things to do every day (or every week) to stay mentally healthy:
1) I make art. One of the best things about taking the train to work is that it gives me time to think and draw.
2) Music. Drumming is a physical outlet. And when I’m working I like to listen to a large assortment of things, including stuff like Bill Evans, the Gimmies and The Scott Joyce Band.
3) Kung Fu.
4) Sandwiches. I like to hide old sandwiches around the office. It’s my little secret that keeps everyone going.
5) Kids. My girls keep me grounded and thinking about what’s really important.
How bout you? What are your five a day?
I’m not always great at tagging or at responding to tags and award thingies, so if I tag you, feel free to do it or ignore it. And if I don’t tag you and you’d like to do it, by all means, go for it!
I’ll tag:
Mary Tyler Moore
Peggy Sue Easter Eggs
Tami Fay Baker
Jody Foster Grant
Dungeons and Dragons
UPDATE:
As I think about it, I can tag more than 5 friends, huh? So, I’m adding:
Hugo
Neil
Roni
RJ (whenever you’re up to it, dude)
The Scott Joyce Band (leave me a comment?)

Hmmmn. Good ones! When you work at home, you don’t hide sammiches around here do you?
I suppose that Dungeons and Dragons does not add to your sanity, EH?
Well, I do declare….

I do like the way you think. (But as Franny points out, number 4 may not be the thing for those of us working from home. Sure made me laugh though!)
Hmmmmm………. just pondering what my top five might be cheers me! Thanks!

Here we go:
1) Laugh. Who wants to be a grump all the time? Laughter is good.
2) Run. I absolutely hate running…but it’s good for me, so I do it (patent pending, nike).
3) Sandwiches. I actually find and eat Jim’s old sandwiches.
4) I try to be creative in some way…whether it’s art or a joke…I’m always trying to do something to stimulate the mind
5) Emlen. What a great kid. We have daily wrestling matches.
